Aadhaar has become an essential identity document for every Indian citizen. Which Details Can Be Updated Online?

This will also include updating address, phone number, changing name and correcting incorrect date of birth. The QR code-based mobile-to-mobile or app-to-app transfer facility of Aadhaar is being considered necessary to prevent misuse of Aadhaar. It is used for various purposes from checking-in at a hotel to getting an identity card in a running train. This gives users maximum control over their own data. It can be shared only with consent.

How to Update Aadhaar Address from Home

Updating your address is the most common online update. Here’s how you can do it:

Visit the UIDAI Website:
Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
Login:
Use your Aadhaar number and the OTP received on your registered mobile number to login.
Select Update Address:
Click on “Update Aadhaar Online” and select the “Address Update” option.
Upload Proof of Address:
You must upload a scanned copy of an approved address proof document (like a utility bill, bank statement, passport, etc.). Make sure the document is clear.
Submit and Pay:
Review your details carefully and pay the small fee (usually Rs. 50). You can pay online.
Download Acknowledgement:
After submission, you will get a URN (Update Request Number). Use this to track your update status online.

Apart from this, it can also be used by sub-registrars and registrars at the time of property registration. Fraud often happens here. UIDAI is creating awareness among state governments to use Aadhaar to verify people coming for property registration, so that fraud can be stopped.
